In a world where the social, economic and planetary challenges we face seem insurmountable, Iβve made it my mission to craft possibilities for a world that works for all. But how do we do this when the problems and needs are entangled in layers of complexity? This is where technology and in particular Moonshot technologies are powerful companions.
Moonshots arenβt just about incremental improvements; theyβre about daring to dream 10x bigger, and about reshaping the world as we know it. They ignite our ability to ideate and build solutions, rooted in the question, βwhat if?β and inspiring us to tackle challenges once thought impossible. Think about Stephanie Kwolek, a chemist who invented Kevlar, a synthetic fiber 5x stronger than steel. Her discovery was applied to numerous industries including aerospace and automotive. Or consider Dr. Patricia Bath, who invented the Laserphaco Probe that revolutionized cataract surgery, impacting millions.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned working with a portfolio of Moonshots at Alphabet is that when we intentionally create the space for people to solve hard problems that impact millions, we start to lay down the tracks for addressing human needs that truly enhance humanity.
